Let’s face it, if diet and exercise were the answer to weight loss, we would not be experiencing alarming rates of obesity and eating disorders in our culture. Since the early 80’s, we’ve seen countless diet fads, meal plans and exercise programs come and go. They are all missing a key component for success . . . our relationship with Whole Self.
This powerful and innovative 7-day weight loss retreat is completely different from traditional Western weight loss programs in that it uses comprehensive approach towards reclaiming your health and well-being. Created by Ed Harrold, the program addresses how your relationship with your “Whole Self” has been damaged, with food as the “symptom” of unresolved past physical and/or emotional issues. This program is about loving yourself right where you are now and letting go of the pain from your past.
"I do not believe that you should devote overly much effort to correcting your weaknesses. Rather, I believe that the highest success in living and the deepest emotional satisfaction comes from building and using your signature strengths." ~Martin Seligman, PhD, Authentic Happiness
The program promotes a more peaceful and joyful way of being in relationship to food and your body. Following a “Whole Self” health philosophy, we utilize all of the gifts of yoga, the ayurveda health system, and the chakra energy framework to deliver a profound emotional and physical healing experience.
Yoga is known for its healing qualities and unique ability to reunite the body/mind/spirit relationship. This week, you will immerse yourself in learning more about the power of yoga breath, the profound effects of yoga postures as you twist and rotate the spine, and other yoga movements that bring the “life force” of the body to your “choosing mind.”
In addition, we’ve developed our very own breath-based fitness program to create an exercise routine that is both safe for your joints and muscles and allows for a strong workout of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Each afternoon will include either indoor cycling or outdoor walking, along with yoga/meditation. All exercise is based in basic and advanced yogic breathing to teach your body to burn fat stores instead of our sugars.
In order to help you access your deepest healing potential, you also will experience also an afternoon of Holotropic breath work and journaling.
Dr. Patricia Williams will introduce the chakra system as a powerful framework for understanding and shifting the energy in your life. You will learn about the dynamics of the system as a whole, the functioning of each chakra (energy center), and the interplay between mind, body and spirit. You will have an opportunity to explore how your unconscious expresses itself through the body and how you can work with each chakra in a variety of ways to promote your own well-being and aliveness. Dr. Williams has been trained and mentored by the legendary chakra teacher and author Anodea Judith (Eastern Body, Western Mind) from Sacred Centers in California.
The Ayurvedic approach to health customizes this program for you. Ayurveda does not believe in a “one size fits all” approach. Alison Driscoll teaches us about body types, how important proper digestion is for health, what foods work for you as an individual and what foods are creating excess inflammation in your body, the importance of what you eat and what time of day you eat as your body attunes to nature’s clock, and the importance of the change in seasons with regard to diet and exercise.

Each day will be the best day of your life as you rediscover the spark inside yourself that is your true essence. Harnessing the intelligence of mind, body, heart and spirit will lead us through layer after layer until you’re clear again about who you really are. So, what are you “weighting” for?!
