BodyWork & Spa Services at the Comfort Zone:
Our bodies are designed to heal themselves. We are a living system of energy. Within the human body, there are 11 systems & 8 energy systems (some cultures recognize more) that regulate homeostasis or balance. If an imbalance occurs in one of those systems, mechanisms within the other systems activate their activity to help keep the body functioning properly. If these imbalances are not corrected, over time, disease occurs.
Regular body and energy work, are preventative and/or corrective measures to help keep our body, mind and spirits healthy. They foster physical, psychological and spiritual health and well-being.

Tuina - $25 or $100 for 1 hour.
Dr. Bob is our Tuina practitioner with and Energy Healer.
Tuina (Tui Na) is an Oriental Bodywork Therapy that has been used in China for 2,000 years. Tuina uses the traditional Chinese medical theory of the flow of Qi through the meridians as its basic therapeutic orientation. Through the application of massage and manipulation techniques, Tuina seeks to establish a more harmonious flow of Qi through the system of channels and collaterals, allowing the body the naturally heal itself.
Tuina methods include the use of hand techniques to massage the soft tissue (muscles and tendons) of the body, acupressure techniques to directly affect the flow of Qi, and manipulation techniques to realign the musculoskeletal and ligamentous relationships (bone-setting).
In a typical session, the client, wearing loose clothing and no shoes, lies on a table. The practitioner examines the specific problems of the client and begins to apply a specific treatment protocol. The major focus of application is upon specific pain sites, acupressure points, energy meridians, and muscles and joints. Sessions last about 15 minutes. Depending on the specific problems of the client, they may return for additional treatments.
Tuina is well suited for the treatment of specific musculoskeletal disorders and chronic stress-related disorders of the digestive, respiratory and reproductive systems. Effective treatment protocols have been tested in a practical setting. Tuina is not especially useful for those seeking a mild, sedating and relaxing bodywork therapy since it tends to be more task focused than other types of bodywork. Contraindications include conditions involving fractures, phlebitis, infectious conditions, open wounds, and lesions.
Dr. Bob takes regular walk-in appointments Sundays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. To schedule a 1 Hour appointment, please contact the center.

| Deep Tissue - $80 for hour and $115 for 1.5 hour - Massage incorporating the strokes specific to Swedish style combined with a more vigorous, focused and thorough manipulation of specific muscle groups. Deep tissue work is a real work-out, "no pain-no gain". There is some discomfort but as deep tissue enthusiasts know, this is a great treatment for chronic pain and soreness. |
 |
| Therapeutic - $80 for hour and $115 for 1.5 hour - Massage incorporating different techniques to aid in specific complaints where the majority of time is spent on those muscle groups. Techniques may include Swedish style strokes, some deep tissue where appropriate, trigger point therapy for those intense knots, energy based techniques, reflexology, myofascial release, PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) and/or Pranayama breathing exercises. |
 |
| Swedish - $80 for hour and $115 for 1.5 hour - Massage incorporating long, gliding strokes with kneading and friction techniques to increase blood flow, improve circulation, helps relieve muscle tension and stimulates the skin and nervous system while at the same time relaxing the nerves themselves. Chronically tense or tight muscles restrict blood and lymph flow, impinge nerves, inhibit movement and fatigue the body. Swedish massage is often recommended as part of a regular program for stress management and/or to reduce emotional and physical stress. |

Ayurveda - According to Ayurveda, we are born perfect. It is lifestyles, influences, relationships and habits that are incompatible with one's constitution that takes us out of that perfection.
Our Ayurvedic Practitioners are Kim Larson, Terrel Broussard and Larissa Carlson. They visit the studio on a regular basis to offer consultations. Learn your own Constitution and what imbalances may be occurring in your body. Treatment plans are then prepared for you.

| Reiki - $75 for hour - The Japanese word means "universal life force energy" ("chi" in Chinese, "prana" in Hindu). Rei is the universal life energy and ki is the vital life force which flows through all living matter. The tradition of reiki was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui from 2,500 year-old Sanskrit sutras. By gently laying of the hands over the body in certain positions, the therapist facilitates and enhances this energy flow. It is intended to promote physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. |
 |
| Integrative Yoga Therapy - $125 Initial Consultation. $100/session. - IYT uses the model of the 5 bodies and 8 limbs of yoga to facilitate healing. The 5 bodies include the physical, energy, psycho-emotional, wisdom and spiritual. Engaging the aspects of these bodies with yoga provides a vehicle for multi-dimensional healing. Unity is health. The Initial Consultation is a minimum of 1.5 hrs and the ongoing appointments are 1.5 hrs. |
 |
| Chakra Balancing - $75 for hour - Our bodies are comprised of many centers of energy known as Chakras (Sanskrit meaning "spinning wheel of energy"). There are 7 major energy centers within our body that directly correlate with our physical body. Each Chakra has it's own different function and radiates a specific color. They are stacked together in a central column from the crown of your head to the base of your spine. Each Chakra relates to specific organs, muscles, ligaments, veins and all other systems within its energy field. They also influence the endocrine system and are strongly involved with our emotional, psychological and spiritual well-being. Balancing of these energy centers leads to well being and allows our vital life force to flow freely. |

| Pranayama/Meditation - $85 for 1.5 hour - Prana (vital life force) yama (control of) is the regulation of the breath. It is a method which harmonizes the body/mind. During this session, we will begin with a guided relaxation and then explore various forms of pranayama such as Ujjayi (ocean sounding breath), Dirgha (three part breath), Nadi Shodhana (comfortable, alternate nostril breath), Anuloma Viloma (alternate nostril breath), Kapalabhati (skull shining breath), Bhastrika (bellows breath), Sitali (cooling breath) and Sitkari (sound producing breath). The benefits of meditation and this type of oxygenating breathwork include: muscle flexibility, improves respiratory and cardiovascular activity, cellular reproduction and/or repair, reduces stress and anxiety levels and assists with the mind/body/spirit connection. |
 |
| Thai Yoga Bodywork - $100 for 1 hr; 135 for 1.5 hour - A complete Thai incorporates a traditional combination of point pressure, energy meridian work, reflexology and yoga-like stretching for an invigorating and balancing experience. Thai is most different from other forms of massage in that there is no oil used, that the practitioner uses a mattress on the floor (as opposed to a table) and you wear loose fitting clothing throughout the treatment. In Thai, it is not just the hands that are used to free tension from the recipient's body, but the therapist's feet, forearms, knees and elbows as well. |
