Today's rower needs to combine endurance, power and speed effectively. Our Flexibility For Athletes programs are designed to train your body more efficiently by combining the best of yoga: breath, postures, relaxation and meditation to optimize any and all of your training. Our program harnesses the wisdom of the body by using basic, intermediate and advanced yoga breathing techniques as Inspiratory Muscle Training to enliven your indoor or outdoor rowing experience. We blend a unique style to integrate the aspects of yoga into competitive sports.
Our Flexibility For Athletes program has 3 main components: 1) Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) using Yogic Breathing, 2) Specific yoga postures for the Rower and 3) Relaxation/Meditation using sports psychology.
There is a rhythm to both rowing and yoga that is available to you through systematic energy management and mental training. This curriculum of yoga improves performance by increasing energy, stamina and endurance with a built-in relaxation response to experience meditation-in-motion workouts with faster recovery times.
This program is specifically designed for coaches and rowing enthusiasts from recreational to competition levels. Mornings are spent learning techniques on rowing machines. Afternoons spent on the water incorporating these techniques. Ed will be joined by Coach Gerald Quinlan, Head Women's Crew Coach, St. Joseph's University and David Funk, Head Men's Crew Coach, Mainland Regional High School.
