Thai-Shiatsu Bodywork (TSB) is rooted in yoga therapy, energy medicine and meridian theory. TSB expands the impact and reach of traditional Thai massage by integrating the powerful acupressure techniques of Shiatsu, and the well-developed theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), now accepted by medical circles world-wide in the practice of acupuncture for healing and pain relief.

Like Kripalu yoga, TSB is accessible, easy to learn, and adapted to the modern Western world and practitioner, while staying true to the spirit of its Eastern roots. Of special interest to body workers, therapists, yoga teachers, martial and healing artists, healthcare, fitness and movement professionals, it can be enjoyed by anyone, with some adaptations for physical sensitivities and body type.

The giver applies acupressure methods while deeply supporting the receiver in assisted-yoga stretches. TSB includes joint and soft tissue manipulation, rhythmic movement, energy balancing, breath work and meditation to balance and encourage radiant health in both giver and receiver. It invites deep release of physical and psycho-emotional tension while balancing the immune response and restoring body-mind resilience.

Using pressure points for specific health purposes, the practitioner awakens and balances the vital life force along the body's pathways of subtle energy (meridians/sen lines/nadis) while facilitating blood flow and stimulating lymphatic drainage.

The giver moves from the body's dynamic center, the Hara, using as healing instruments the palms, thumbs, forearms, elbows, knees and feet. Effortless movement includes leveraging, leaning and lowering bodyweight with buoyant gravity rather than tiring with muscle strength. Stability, safety and sensitivity result from using a natural, cross-patterning, contra-lateral motion--listening and comforting with one hand, while sensing and stimulating the life force with the other.

Thai massage is a blend of Indo-Chinese and local-Thailand healing arts that cultivate the healing presence of loving kindness, Metta, and the continuity of a meditative yogic dance. Shiatsu is founded in Japanese Zen meditation and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The Five Element theory of TCM is introduced experientially through healing Taoist energy exercises of Qi Gong. The marriage of Thai massage, shiatsu, yoga, and meditation allows you to apply a wider repertoire of techniques while varying the practice to suit your own body dynamics and needs.

The basic certification courses may be taken in any order as they offer a stand-alone sequence of postures and techniques that are complete as a routine in themselves. The courses are integrated into a complete curriculum of certification in the healing traditions of Thai massage and shiatsu. All three courses: TSB I, II and III are a foundation for a competent practice of Asian healing arts.

TSB I: Prone, supine, and side positions with emphasis on lower body, legs and back (30-40 hrs).
TSB II: Prone, supine, side, seated positions, with emphasis on back, shoulders and neck (30-40 hrs).
TSB III: Prone, supine and side positions with emphasis on stomach, back, shoulders, neck and head. (30-40 hrs)

You will receive a Thai Bodywork Certification for completing Level I and/or Level II. We have applied for NCBTMB credits and will know in the coming months if this training is CE approved.

A Thai Deluxe Mat will be available for purchase after the training at a discounted rate of $180. You can view these online at www.SunandMooonOriginals.com. There is a cost savings of $40 when purchasing at this training.

Refund Policy for program: Cancellations will result in 50% refund. No refund if cancellation within 48 hours of program date.
